Operations research | Boosting the efficiency of the extrusion area at KraMZ
Business case
Aluminium consumption in Russia in the first half of 2018 increased by 12% on the same period of last year as a result of efforts to find new uses for aluminium. By 2022, the market for construction extrusions is expected to grow from 199,000 tonnes per year to 220,000 tonnes per year. KraMZ's current capacity allows it to have 7% of this market.
Goal:
As demand for extrusion increases, expand the market share to at least 8.5%.
Development priorities:
Set up a reference area:
Adopt TPM methods. Reduce equipment downtime.
Sort out quality problems. Boost yield.
Change the production planning system. Reduce the stock levels.
