Transformers with alloy windings are a relatively new direction in the area of electrical power distribution equipment.
In contrast to power transformers with oil cooling systems, dry transformers don’t require maintenance and guarantee a high level of safety, as they are made with non-flammable materials that do not generate toxic gas in case of fire. Furthermore, these transformers are resistant to external factors that may arise from network disruption.
The reliability and safety aspects of dry transform with alloy windings make them ideal for use in construction of houses and public buildings, hospitals, airports, metros, ships, coalmines, oilrigs, and nuclear power plants.
Currently, just a few domestic companies provide a full production cycle of TSL transformers, which are usually imported form the EU.
The Aluminium Association works on the expansion of domestic production of TSL transformers and aluminium tape for alloy windings. Successful realisation of this project will replace 50% of imported aluminium tape for transformers into Russia (1,500 – 2,200 tonnes a year) over the course of 2 – 3 years.
