Traditional materials for individual and cottage construction are ceramic, cement-sand, polymer sand, bitumen and steel tiles, which differ in cost and life cycle.

Meanwhile, aluminium tiles can be in demand in housing construction as they have undoubted competitive advantages. Some of them:

• High specific strength;
• Light weight: aluminium roof allows you to do without the erection of fortified structures in new homes or without reinforcing the rafters in the course of repair work in the old buildings, thus saving a lot of money on building materials;
• Absence of susceptibility to sudden temperature fluctuations;
• High corrosion resistance: Aluminium is about 25 times more resistant to corrosion than steel;
• Possibility of using aluminium to create the roofs of the most complex forms;
• During intense heat, aluminium roof protects building from overheating, whereas in the winter it promotes snow melting without the formation of ice.

According to the estimates of the Aluminium Association, the potential capacity of the aluminium tile market in Russia can reach 19 thousand tonnes per year.

Current status:
Currently, together with one of the leading producers of metal roofing, with the support of one of the leaders in the production of aluminium rolls, preparations are being made for the experimental work on testing the technology for extruding aluminium coloured sheets for the production of tiles.

Prospects:
As a result of the experimental work, all the necessary measures will be taken to launch the serial production of aluminium tiles in the Russian Federation.
