Moscow, April 18. More than 70 mln m2 of housing space is commissioned in Russia every year. Using cable and conductor products based on 8 series aluminium alloys allows saving around RUB 6 mln on the construction of one housing building. Such figures were announced at the conference 'Electricity Supply Designing: Topical Issues and Technical Solutions' during Electro-2019 forum.
Cable and conductor products of aluminium are successfully used in Europe, America and China. The alloy developed together by RUSAL and the All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute (VNIIKP) offers to the domestic market a product that is not inferior than analogues of other materials with lower cost and no counterfeit in the market and at the same time has a high extent of fire safety. Currently, cables of aluminium alloy are produced by leading companies of the industry, including Moskabelmet Group, Uncomtech and Kamsky Cable.
A major issue of the conference was the ability to apply aluminium cable products in accordance with the current regulations and approvals. For example, in the opinion of the conference participants, which included designers and engineers, today we can state a high extent of compliance of aluminium cabling with the applicable regulations and standards.
'The share of counterfeit products in the market still remains rather high. Applying cables of the new aluminium alloy allows developers to avoid this problem so increasing fire safety of the facility. The quality and cost of 8 series alloy products and the high readiness of electric installation manufacturers to work with aluminium allow developers to proceed to the full replacement of wiring with products of 8030 and 8176 alloys. Our country is completely ready to implement construction projects using cable and conductor products of aluminium,' believes Pavel Moryakov, CEO of Moskabelmet Group.
