26.04.2024 - Aluminium Association
The Aluminium Association of Russia and the Association of Electrical Industry Enterprises of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzeltexsanoat) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This document is intended to establish a framework for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two organisations. The agreement should boost production and scientific and technical cooperation between companies from the two countries. This includes the implementation of innovative aluminium solutions for the modernisation and expansion of the energy infrastructure in Uzbekistan. The heads of the two associations signed a memorandum at the INNOPROM: Central Asia International Exhibition in Tashkent.
The parties agreed to cooperate in implementing joint projects and sharing experience between companies in the sector. This includes visiting production and scientific and technical facilities, as well as jointly holding and participating in exhibition and thematic events, symposiums, and round tables. The Uzeltexsanoat Association was particularly interested in developing regulatory and technical documents related to standardisation. The companies within the association also cooperated within the Technical Committee 099 Aluminium. Additionally, the association showed interest in innovative 8xxx-series alloys for the energy sector. Thanks to the safety and efficiency of cables of this type, as well as their lower cost compared to copper alternatives while maintaining strength characteristics, more than 20 million square meters of housing are being built in Russia using them. Furthermore, a number of GOST standards that previously restricted the use of alloys in the energy sector have been updated.
'The memorandum will enable us to adopt the best practices in standardisation and technical regulation that have already been implemented in Russia. Additionally, we will be able to introduce new projects in the energy sector based on innovative alloys. This agreement will boost the development of companies from Uzbekistan and Russia,' said Mirziyod Yunusov, Chairman of the Board of Uzeltexsanoat Association.
'The Uzbek market has a lot of potential. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will be the first step towards cooperation between the aluminium companies of both countries. This will allow us to start implementing projects in the energy sector. In recent years, Russia has made strides in the fields of new alloys and regulatory and technical documentation. As a result, developers of residential and commercial buildings are increasingly choosing aluminium cable and wire products for their projects. We are confident that our cooperation with the Uzeltexsanoat Association will be the first step towards the use of high-tech products in Uzbekistan as well,' said Irina Kazovskaya, Co-Chair of the Aluminium Association.
The Uzeltexsanoat Association (uzeltech.uz/ru/) was established in 2014. The main goals of the Association are to develop a strategy for sustainable industrial development as a single complex for processing raw materials, producing, and exporting finished products with high added value; study the demand for electrical products in domestic and foreign markets; promote the development of new product types; saturate the market with high-quality electrical products made in the country; take comprehensive measures to improve the quality of systems of standardisation and certification in electrical industry in accordance with international requirements and standards. The Uzeltexsanoat Association unites over 80 manufacturers of cable and wire products, electrical household products, and electric power equipment.
