The best works of the 'Clockwork Orange 2024' 29th international student competition in the aluminium packaging design category were given awards. The ceremony was held at the National Institute of Design in Moscow. This year, more than 300 entries were submitted to the contest organised by the 'Package and Packaging' magazine and the Double V Group. Some of them were designs of aluminium containers. The Aluminium Association has been involved in the evaluation of entries for the second year in a row.
The experts from the Association were impressed by the high level of work done and its consistency with current global trends. Four designers were named winners of the contest:
First place: Oksana Korshunova (Moscow Polytechnic University, Favorsky Institute of Graphics and Book Art; 'Nalivnoe Yablochko' spiced cider brand packaging).
Second place: Anna Davydova (College of the Russian State University of Design and Applied Arts; Dell'arte lemonade brand and packaging series).
Third place: Daria Nemova (Turgenev Oryol State University; 'Butterbeer' lemonade brand packaging).
A special prize was awarded to the 'Aluminium Packaging for Energy Drinks' project by Nikita Trushin from the Razumovsky Moscow State University of Technology and Management.
Aluminium beverage containers are one of the most popular types of packaging. They are appreciated for their environmental benefits, as they can be recycled almost indefinitely. They are also easy to transport and offer marketing advantages, including the ability to engage consumers through their design. In the EAEU alone, the aluminium can manufacturing volume is more than 10 billion units. Experts predict that by the end of 2024, the EAEU’s aluminium can manufacturing capacity will have increased by 25% compared to this year. It means an extra 2 billion cans per year.
'We are so impressed by the designers' dedication to using modern and environmentally sound materials in their work. One of the goals of the Aluminium Association is to promote aluminium in the creative sector. This includes educating students about the benefits of modern aluminium alloys, the wide range of colour options available, and the various methods of decoration. Professional competitions are not only a great start for students in their career, but also an effective platform for communication between designers and industrialists,' said Irina Kazovskaya, Chair of the Aluminium Association.
